Reheard last week by investigators, Henda Ayari still talks about a rape that took place, but it would not have happened on the date or place she had originally indicated, revealed Franceinfo Tuesday.

A week after judges rejected the request for release submitted by Muslim theologian Tariq Ramadan who faces rape charges, the first complainant is changing her story from the original one she made last autumn, reveals Franceinfo Tuesday 29 May.
The former Salafist, who became a feminist activist, Henda Ayari, 41 years old, was re-heard last week by the judges. She still talks about a rape in terrible conditions, but it would not have happened on the date or the place she indicated in her original complaint.
Henda Ayari and Tariq Ramadan agree on one thing: they only met once. For the theologian it was brief and without any particular rapprochement at the Bourget Parc of Expositions, following one of his lectures.
For Henda Ayari – the first of three women to have lodged a complaint for rape in France against the Islamologist – it was one night in a Parisian hotel and it turned into rape with a slap, bite, spitting and strangling, she told the judges last week.
But, if in her complaint of October 2017, she dated the facts at the end of March-beginning of April 2012 and situated them at the Holiday Inn hotel of Gare-de-l’East, last week she modified her last version of the facts.
THE CROWN PLAZA AND NO LONGER THE HOLIDAY INN
After digging extensively in her notes, diaries, directories, account statements and check stubs of that time, she finally evokes rape on May 26, 2012, two months after the date first stated.
In addition, the location is now at the Crown Plaza Hotel, Place de la République, in the 11th arrondissement of the capital.
This inconsistency in her statements irritates Tariq Ramadan’s lawyer, “When a woman has been raped, she usually remembers the place!”, insists Mr. Emmanuel Marsigny, who took over the defense of the Islamologist almost two months ago after the Muslim theologian let go of his first council in this affair, Maître Yassine Bouzrou.
HENDA AYARI ABOUT TO PUBLISH A SECOND BOOK
“She changed hotels, she changed dates, soon she we will also change the author of the facts,” said Marsigny, “all this is not serious, and what is tragic is that my client is kept precisely due to verifications procedures in order to make the charges credible.”
“From the beginning, these accusations are not corroborated, they are contradicted, and there are lies”, said Me Emmanuel Marsigny, Tariq Ramadan’s lawyer told Franceinfo
“I expect only one thing and that is for the justice system to open their eyes and draws their conclusions,” says the lawyer. Asked by Franceinfo, Henda Ayari’s main lawyer has not responded for the time being.
For the first time since his imprisonment four months ago, Tariq Ramadan will be re-heard by the judges on Tuesday, June 5th. The next day, June 6, Henda Ayari will publish her second book, Never more veiled, Never again raped (Observatory Ed).
A NEW RELEASE REQUEST
Denouncing the “inconsistencies and lies” of the three complainants, the Muslim theologian’s lawyer is seriously considering – after the hearing of his client – to quickly submit a new application for release.
Last week on May 22, [the latest release request] was rejected by the investigating chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal. The judges also rejected the request for new medical expertise submitted by the Islamologist who suffers from multiple sclerosis and who is still being held in a medical unit at Fresnes prison.
